The Loaded Jigsmith is possibly my most used plug. It is essentially a sinking pencil popper that is designed to cast extreme distances. I work them on top just like a pencil but occasionally stop reeling while continuing to work the rod tip allowing the plug to sink. Fish frequently crush the plug as it goes sub surface. I have a friend who fishes these day and night and used it almost exclusively last season – landing countless fish all over Long Island last year. If you fish the Cape Cod Canal – these are extremely useful for hitting distant breaking fish. They are approx 5″ long and weigh in around 2.7oz.
